Francoeur Riding 8-Game Hitting Streak Into Washington
April 28, 2008

Jeff Francoeur and the Atlanta Braves head to the nation's capital today for a three-game series with the Washington Nationals. Riding an eight-game hitting streak, Francoeur is hitting .333 during that span with four runs scored and five RBI. For the season, Francoeur is batting .294 with 14 runs scored, 19 RBI and 3 home runs.

Though the Braves have struggled in their last two games, dropping two of three against the New York Mets over the weekend, Francoeur’s performance at the plate has been a bright spot for an injury-riddled Atlanta squad. His eight game hitting streak has included a 2-for-4 showing on Apr. 27, as well as a 1-for-3 outing with 3 RBI on Apr. 24 against the Florida Marlins. Francoeur’s 10 doubles this season are currently tied for the lead among National League outfielders.

Francoeur has continued his National League-best streak of 351 games-started. The Braves are set to face the Nationals Tuesday night at 7:10 pm EDT Tuesday evening. Following the Nationals series, Atlanta returns home to face the Cincinnati Reds at Turner Field over the weekend.
